MAYNARDS TO MAKE GUILTY PLEA AHEAD OF FAHIE TRIAL

A second co-defendant has filed for a change in plea hearing, a development that could leave former Premier Andrew Fahie as the last one fighting against the charges laid in an ongoing drug trafficking and money laundering case.

Reports are that on Monday, May 29, former BVI Ports Authority Managing Director Oleavine Maynard filed with the Federal Court to change her plea after initially pleading not guilty.

This, after Kadeem Maynard, her son, made a similar move in recent weeks.

They are facing charges of interstate and foreign travel in aid of racketeering, conspiracy to import a controlled substance, conspiracy to engage in money laundering and attempted money laundering. It has yet to be revealed on which charge or charges that either intends to make the change of plea.

The two are co-defendants with Fahie but have remained in custody for over a year since their arrest while Fahie is out on bail.

The Maynards are both set to appear in court for the change of plea hearings on June 12th.

Meanwhile, the jury trial of Andrew Fahie is slated to commence on July 18th.
