FAHIE TRIAL PUSHED TO JANUARY 10TH

The trial of former Premier Andrew Fahie has been delayed once more, briefly pushed back from its previously scheduled January 8th start date.

The trial is now set to commence on January 10th.

The postponement comes to allow Judge Kathleen Williams to hold a hearing on January 8th, following recent motions filed by the prosecution that have been objected to by the defence.

Fahie’s attorney argued that the motions, filed in the second half of December 2023, raised crucial issues at the eleventh hour.

At the hearing, the judge is expected to address outstanding motions regarding foreign laws, witnesses, hearsay evidence, and other issues arising late in the case.

Fahie faces charges of drug smuggling, money laundering, and racketeering in Miami, stemming from his April 2022 arrest. If convicted, he could face up to life in prison.
