Deputy Premier and Minister for Financial Services Hon. Lorna Smith OBE in partnership with Unite BVI and other contributors is hosting the Virgin Islands very first Banking Expo on June 6th, 2024 at Treasure Isle hotel from 9am-3pm. Smith in speaking with 284 media stated the importance for persons in the finance sector in the Virgin Islands attending the Business Banking Expo, which will see financial institutions, regulators, business owners, and entrepreneurs engaging in dialogue in an effort to strengthen the industry.
The event is geared towards offering strategic advice to all small, medium and micro business owners and entrepreneurs on traversing the banking industry. Smith was happy to share that this would include businesses from the Sister Islands.
The event will be featuring all banks in the BVI and showcase their various innovations and trends, offerings, present valuable knowledge to small business owners and entrepreneurs, provide them with necessary tools to navigate the banking industry, seek financing, network, and provide direct interaction between the financial sector and businesses facilitating mutual understanding, partnership and cooperation.
Hon. Smith said, “I expect this Expo to deliver substantial benefits to our community, including improved financial literacy for MSMEs so that they can make informed financial decisions; better access to financing, crucial for economic expansion; and the promotion of innovation within the financial services sector, leading to more tailored products and services for local businesses.”
The event will feature a number of keynote speakers, workshops and panel discussions.
Local Banking institutions will also have exhibits, presenting their offerings and engaging with existing and potential clients while bringing together key stakeholders.
