BVI FULL MOON PARTY IN PUERTO RICO BREAKS ATTENDANCE RECORD ONCE AGAIN

Almost 3,000 guests and fans of the British Virgin Islands arrived at VIVO Beach Club in Isla Verde, Puerto Rico, to celebrate the already traditional BVI Full Moon Party on Saturday, 22nd June. Organized by the British Virgin Islands Tourist Board & Film Commission (BVITBFC) and VIVO Beach Club, the party is inspired by the famous full moon parties that take place at Trellis Bay, Tortola and Jost Van Dyke.

“This party has become a tradition and is an excellent opportunity to spend time with our friends in Puerto Rico,” said Clive McCoy, Director of the BVITBFC. “We are delighted to have more people this year than the last time and we want to remind them to get ready to come to Virgin Gorda to enjoy our Xmas in July event on 20th July.”

The guests enjoyed watching dancers on stilts, known as moko jumbies, and a show featuring fire stunts. Both have already become the party’s signature acts. Virgin Gorda band Final Faze delighted the audience with their repertoire, which covered pop, soca, reggae and calypso. VIVO Beach Club’s DJ Mikie Torres also made guests dance with a selection of Afro-Caribbean numbers. Guests also enjoyed a summer fashion show presented by Alaire, VIVO Beach Club’s fashion boutique.

Just like last year, the event featured other representatives from the BVITBFC and exhibitors from properties and services in the BVI such as Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour, Leverick Bay Resort & Marina, Long Bay Beach Resort, and Myett’s Garden Inn. Representatives from Silver Airways, which provided flights for the raffle prizes, were also present.

The Full Moon Party climaxed with a raffle featuring prizes including stays at properties such as Leverick Bay, The Hideout, Anegada Beach Resort, Scrub Island Resort, Bitter End Yacht Club, and Rosewood Little Dix Bay. The grand prize was a five-night stay for two in a beachfront villa with daily breakfast included, at Long Bay Beach Resort, with airline tickets for two, courtesy of Silver Airways.

“I hope this party will encourage those in attendance to plan their trips to the BVI for the Xmas in July 2024 event in Virgin Gorda, or for other short or extended stays” McCoy concluded. “We look forward to welcoming the Puerto Rican Navy once again.”

The BVI Full Moon Party was sponsored by the British Virgin Islands Tourist Board & Film Commission, VIVO Beach Club, Wally Castro Marine, A&A Tours, Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour, Silver Airways and Ocean Lab Brewing Co. Other collaborations came from restaurants, properties and marinas such as Bitter End Yacht Club, Winnie’s Steakhouse, Nanny Cay, Leverick Bay Resort & Marina, Myett’s Restaurant & Hotel, Long Bay Beach Resort, Scrub Island Resort Spa & Marina and Oil Nut Bay.
