Unite BVI has announced the launch of the 2024 KickStart BVI Small Business Loan Programme, designed to provide financial support and resources to BVI-based entrepreneurs. This initiative aims to stimulate economic growth and development in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) by offering zero-interest loans, free training, mentorship, and networking opportunities.
The loan programme is open to small businesses that demonstrate a “Force for Good” benefit to the community or environment. Eligible applicants can receive loans of up to $5,000 with a two-year repayment period. No down payment or collateral is required.
Unite BVI partnered with VP Bank 6 years ago to initiate this flagship programme and continues to expand collaborations with HIRE BVI, IGNITE, and the Branson Centre of Entrepreneurship Jamaica to provide free training to participants. Additionally, the organization is working with the Ministry of Financial Services, Labour, and Trade to develop a robust mentorship and business development programme.
To apply for the KickStart BVI Small Business Loan Programme, applicants must first complete an initial assessment survey. (https://forms.gle/MgKKJbh4Aikr5hHQ9.) The deadline for submissions is September 13, 2024. Successful applicants will be invited to submit a business plan and financial forecast.
Kim Takeuchi, Unite BVI Foundation Manager, emphasized the importance of investing in social impact enterprises for long-term environmental and community benefits. The loan programme is specifically designed to catalyze and foster social entrepreneurship endeavors and support a vibrant entrepreneurial culture that acts as a driving force for social, environmental and economic benefit.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Financial Services, Labour and Trade Hon. Lorna Smith, OBE in an invited comment said, “I continue to be extremely grateful for the support given by Unite BVI for Small Business Development. Congratulations on the hard work and creativity that you and your team bring to the growth of business development in this territory. The Ministry of FSLT appreciates the support you give us which we hope will supplement our limited resources.”
