In a celebratory move highlighting Virgin Islands talent on the global stage, hitmaking musical duo R. City was bestowed with honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degrees from the University of the Virgin Islands during its 60th Commencement Ceremony.

After receiving their honorary doctorates before bringing down the house with a rousing performance of their smash hit “Locked Away.”
The newly-minted honorary degree recipients paid it forward as well, with R. City announcing the establishment of the Miguel “Keibo” Thomas Scholarship Fund with a $20,000 donation to their alma mater. The scholarship, named to honor their father, will support future generations of Virgin Islands students pursuing their academic dreams at UVI.
