His Excellency Governor Daniel Pruce has been inducted into the Lions Club of Tortola as an Honorary Lion.
This is in keeping with the Club’s long-standing tradition of having sitting Governors in the Territory inducted as honorary members. The induction took place during the Club’s Annual Awards and Induction Ceremony on Tuesday, May 28, by Past Council Chairperson, Lion Marvin O. Grant MJF.
Governor Pruce was presented with the Club’s Emblem and Vest by Lion President Daphodil Sampson, MJF. He also received a welcome gift of a Lions Club signature tie, presented by Past President, Kedrick Malone, MJF.
During the ceremony, Grant informed the Governor about the work of Lions worldwide, especially those in our local community. He said, “We are extremely proud that you have accepted membership into our Club and Lions Clubs International.
Membership in a Lions Club is a privilege and you have joined the world’s largest and most active service organization.”
In response, Governor Pruce commended the work of the Lions Club of Tortola saying, “Clearly, you’re a wonderful group of people, you’re doing fantastic work, making an enormous contribution to your communities, providing great opportunities for young people as well. I hope very much during my time here, both myself, and my wife Rachel, can do something to support you in the work that you do.”
The Club also welcomed three (3) additional new members: Jeremy Liburd, Sherry[1]Ann James and Marcia Lyght-Robin who were inducted as Lions. Additionally, its youth arm, the Leo Club of Tortola, welcomed Madison Blyden who was inducted as a new Leo.
The Lions Club of Tortola has been serving the local community for the past 52 years. Meetings are held on the second Tuesdays of every month at the BVI Finance Conference Room located on the third floor of the Cutlass Building.
