RESIDENTS ENCOURAGED TO SUPPORT 13TH ANNUAL CIBC CARIBBEAN WALK FOR THE CURE

Residents of the British Virgin Islands are being urged to show their support for the 13th annual CIBC Caribbean Walk for the Cure, the largest fundraiser benefiting the BVI Cancer Society.

The event will take place on Saturday, October 5, starting at 5:30 a.m. from the CIBC Caribbean branch in Wickham’s Cay, Road Town.

At a recent presentation, BVI Cancer Society President Gloria Fahie encouraged individuals and businesses to register for the event. Registration is $25 and includes a light breakfast and an event T-shirt, subject to availability. Fahie emphasized the importance of early registration to ensure participation in this worthy cause.

Fabian Devonish, Branch Manager of Retail, Platinum, and Business Banking, and Walk Manager for CIBC Caribbean, revealed the ambitious goal of raising $75,000, which would set a record for funds raised in the BVI since the initiative began. Devonish highlighted that proceeds from the event would significantly contribute to cancer prevention, early detection, treatment support, and raising awareness across the territory.

The slate of activities will culminate with a special addition to this year’s campaign – the Sunset Cruise for the Cure. This cruise, held in partnership with Metro Tours and Cruises, will take place on Saturday, October 12, aboard the party boat M/V PlayTime. The cruise, featuring music by DJs Push Pop and Carly Cartel, will depart from the Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park at 6:00 p.m. and return at 9:00 p.m.

Participants are encouraged to get involved, whether through the Walk for the Cure or the Sunset Cruise, to help make a positive impact in the fight against cancer.
