The BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) hosted its inaugural Career Expo at its Long Bush Compound on Friday, November 29, drawing a large number of young residents eager to explore career opportunities in the energy sector.
Speaking at the event, BVIEC General Manager Dr. Neil Smith highlighted the Corporation’s critical role in the stability and future of the Virgin Islands’ economy. Under the theme “Driving Innovation and Excellence through a Dynamic and Inclusive Workforce,” the expo showcased BVIEC’s evolving skillsets and vision for clean, affordable energy.
Dr. Smith also emphasized the need for investment in talent to ensure BVIEC remains a leader in energy production and distribution.
Premier Dr. the Hon. Natalio Wheatley commended the BVIEC’s role in shaping the territory’s economic and social fabric and commended Dr. Smith for being the right leader for the Corporation.
Meanwhile, Minister for Communication and Works Hon. Kye Rymer noted that Dr. Smith’s insight to organise the Career Expo demonstrates a profound commitment to nurturing talent and fostering professional development within the BVI.
