Popular local commentator Claude Skelton Cline, a former government consultant, was arrested and charged by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force in relation to a criminal investigation resulting from findings in audits related to the Commission of Inquiry.
Cline was charged with two counts of obtaining property by deception, four counts of false accounting, and one count of proceeds of crime.
A statement from police explained that the charges stem from a complex probe led by the Commission of Inquiry (COI) into the controversial awarding of government contracts during that time period.
According to the police statement, the investigation spanned over 18 months before culminating in Cline’s arrest on Friday.
