POLICE APPEAL SEEKING WITNESSES IN DOUBLE HOMICIDE

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) is urgently appealing to the public for any information that could help solve a tragic double homicide that occurred early Friday morning in Huntums Ghut.

Just after midnight on May 17th, two Hispanic men were fatally shot while standing outside a popular bar in the area. The victims have been identified as 44-year-old Alix Montero Hernandez of Fahie Hill and 33-year-old Amancio Vasquez Ramirez of Sea Cows Bay.

The circumstances and motive surrounding the deadly shooting remain unknown as detectives actively investigate the case. In response, the RVIPF says it will be increasing police presence in local communities through heightened patrols and home visits.

“This is terrible news. My thoughts are with the loved ones of the victims,” said Governor Daniel Pruce after visiting the crime scene. “I’m grateful to the RVIPF for their quick response, and I ask anyone with any information to contact the police as they take forward their investigation.”

Acting Commissioner Jacqueline Vanterpool stated the Force’s unwavering commitment to solving the case and restoring a sense of safety.

“Our deepest sympathies go out to the families and friends of the victims in this tragic incident,” Vanterpool said. “We understand the pain and grief this has caused, and the RVIPF is fully committed to doing everything possible to solve this crime and bring those responsible to justice.”

Residents with any information about the double murder, no matter how seemingly insignificant, are urged to contact the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-9339 or the anonymous Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-8477. All tips will remain confidential.
