Jahnoi Frank, a 21-year-old man with no fixed address, has been charged with several serious criminal offences following an attempted armed robbery that took place in Lower Estate, Tortola, on Friday, June 14.
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) reported that Frank was apprehended after a lone masked male, armed with a handgun, attempted to rob another man of his jewellery.
The swift response from officers resulted in the recovery of a nine-millimetre semi-automatic pistol, complete with a magazine containing three live rounds, and the subsequent arrest of Frank.
Frank faces multiple charges, including Attempted Robbery, Possession of a Firearm with Intent to Commit an Indictable Offense, Carrying a Firearm without a License, and Possession of Explosives.
Commissioner of Police Mark Collins praised the officers involved for their bravery and rapid, effective response to the incident. He reaffirmed the RVIPF’s dedication to preventing and reducing crime in the territory and bringing offenders to justice.
The injured victim was treated at Dr. Orlando Smith Hospital and has since been released. Frank remains in police custody and will appear in court at the next available sitting.
