ROHAN WILLIAMS FOUND GUILTY OF THE MURDER AND RAPE OF LENIA GREEN

Justice was served in the High Court on Friday, July 12, 2024, as Rohan Williams was found guilty on both counts for the murder and rape of Lenia Green, an incident that shocked the Georges Northside community in 2019.

Five years later Williams’ conviction marks the culmination of relentless efforts by the RVIPF and the dedicated team at the Director of Public Prosecutions office. This verdict brings a sense of closure and justice to the family of Lenia Green and the community at large, who have been profoundly affected by this tragedy.

46-year-old Great Mountain resident, Lenia Green succumbed to gunshot wounds. It was stated that she named St Vincent native, Rohan Williams as her rapist and shooter.

On Sunday, May 26, 2019 two gunshots were heard in the Georges North Side area at about 8:15 pm.

Following the shots, a motorist noticed a greenish-blue SUV leaving the area. The silhouette of a person was also seen on the public road.

During the deliberations, the court heard that the motorist approached the silhouette of the person who identified herself as Lenia Green and indicated that she was just raped and shot by Williams.

The court also heard that Williams, a contractor, had been employed by Green’s sister-in-law and became a family friend over time.

A search warrant was executed at William’s home at 11:00 p.m. that same night and police uncovered some dark clothing soaking in his bathroom.

Williams was later arrested, and during a subsequent police interview, he denied the allegations and reportedly said he was home alone at the time of the incident. He also refused to give a DNA sample to assist in the investigation.

Notably, prosecutors told the court that Green had an extended restraining order against Williams in January of 2019.

Commissioner of Police Mark Collins extends his heartfelt gratitude and congratulations to the police officers and civilian staff who worked tirelessly to ensure that justice was served. He said their unwavering commitment and collaboration were instrumental in securing this outcome.

Williams will return for sentencing on November 14, 2024.
