RVIPF INVESTIGATES SHOOTING INCIDENT IN FREE BOTTOM; INCREASES SECURITY MEASURES

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) is actively investigating a shooting incident that occurred at a residence in Free Bottom, Tortola on Wednesday afternoon.

According to an official statement from the RVIPF, the incident took place shortly after 2:00 p.m., prompting an immediate response from officers following reports of gunfire.

Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered spent shell casings but found no individuals present. The area was quickly secured as part of the ongoing investigation.

Acting Commissioner of Police Jacqueline Vanterpool addressed the situation, emphasizing the seriousness of the incident.

“In response to this serious matter, the Police have engaged the Crisis Intervention Team to offer much-needed support to the residents of the home involved and to others in the community,” she said.

She added, “Additionally, we have increased our security measures by maintaining an armed patrol presence in the area to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents.”

The RVIPF is urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward. Individuals can anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 800-8477 (TIPS). Alternatively, tips can be directed to the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-9339.

Police noted that all information, no matter how minor it may seem, could prove crucial to the investigation and will be treated with strict confidentiality.
