GOV’T WARNS OF CERTIFICATE SCAM TARGETING BVI

The Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports has issued an urgent public alert regarding a fraudulent advertisement scheme currently proliferating on social media platforms.

In a bulletin released on September 11, 2024, the ministry warned residents about a deceptive campaign falsely offering free online courses, certificates, and job recommendations purportedly on behalf of the government agency.

The scam, which has been circulating widely on various social media channels, promises enticing educational and career opportunities. However, officials stress that interacting with these fraudulent advertisements could lead to serious consequences.

“The public is asked to refrain from interacting with this advertisement to avoid potential security or privacy breaches as the ministry is not engaged in such initiatives”, the notice said.

The ministry has expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to the public.
