Police Constable Earlando Baynes has been arrested and charged with Breach of Trust by a Public Officer following an internal investigation by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) into a significant security breach.
The breach, which occurred during a planned operation in November 2024, involved the unauthorized disclosure of sensitive information, compromising the operation’s success and raising concerns about law enforcement protocols.
In response, the RVIPF launched a comprehensive investigation led by a specialized internal team to identify the source of the breach. The findings revealed the severity of the incident and underscored the need for stricter accountability measures within the organization.
Constable Baynes is now set to appear before the Magistrates Court in the coming days to answer to the charges.
Acting Commissioner of Police Jacqueline E. Vanterpool emphasized the RVIPF’s commitment to integrity and public trust in light of the incident. “The RVIPF remains steadfast in its commitment to uphold the highest standards of integrity and transparency. We are dedicated to eradicating corruption within our force and ensuring public trust in our law enforcement capabilities,” she said in a statement.
The RVIPF has assured the public that it will continue to take decisive actions against breaches of trust while prioritizing the integrity of the organization and the safety of the Virgin Islands community.
This case serves as a reminder of the RVIPF’s commitment to holding its members accountable and maintaining professionalism within its ranks.
