DE CASTRO WELCOMES NEW SCHOOL YEAR

Hon. Sharie de Castro, Minister of Education, Youth Affairs & Sports for the British Virgin Islands, issued a warm welcome to students and educators as the 2024-2025 school year begins.

In her statement released Monday, de Castro emphasized the promise and potential of the new academic year, likening students to “seeds planted in fertile soil” and describing educators as “architects of possibility.”

The minister reaffirmed the territory’s commitment to “Moving Virgin Islands Education Full S.T.E.A.M. Ahead,” highlighting the integration of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics into the curriculum.

De Castro praised educators for their dedication and creativity over the past year, noting their embrace of innovative teaching methods and resilience in the face of challenges.

She also addressed parents, calling them “steady anchors” in their children’s educational journey and emphasizing the importance of their continued support and guidance.

The minister stressed the shared responsibility in shaping the future of the Virgin Islands through education, calling for unity, dedication, and vision in achieving this mission.
