Aspiring scholars in the Virgin Islands are being encouraged to apply for the prestigious Chevening Scholarship, a fully funded opportunity to pursue a Master’s degree at one of over 150 universities across the United Kingdom.
Applications are now open for the 2025-2026 academic year, with the deadline set for November 5, 2024.
To help potential applicants navigate the process, the Head of the Governor’s Office, Ms. Ginny Ferson, will be leading a special workshop on Thursday, September 26, 2024. The workshop, designed to assist residents in their applications, will take place at the Governor’s Office on Waterfront Drive, Road Town, Tortola, from 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. There will also be a virtual attendance option for those unable to join in person.
The Chevening Scholarship offers full financial support to individuals of all ages and diverse backgrounds who can demonstrate leadership potential. It provides access to top-tier education in the UK while also connecting scholars to a global network of leaders and influencers. Approximately 1,500 scholarships will be awarded globally for the 2025-2026 academic year, underscoring the UK’s commitment to developing future leaders.
Ferson, in speaking about the scholarship and the upcoming workshop, expressed enthusiasm about supporting local applicants.
“The Chevening Scholarship offers a fantastic opportunity for individuals not only to gain a Master’s Degree at a world-leading UK university, but also to join a global network of leaders and influencers. I hope to see as many applicants as possible from the Virgin Islands,” Ferson stated.
Ms. Ferson, who has worked with Chevening scholars throughout her career, emphasized the life-changing nature of this opportunity. The upcoming workshop will provide guidance on the application process and answer questions from prospective candidates. Interested individuals are encouraged to take advantage of this resource to strengthen their applications.
