INTERCARIBBEAN LAUNCHES DIRECT FLIGHT TO PUNTA CANA!

Beginning January 15th, InterCaribbean will afford BVI residents the opportunity to fly directly to Punta Cana in the eastern Dominican Republic.

The new route will connect the USA, Canada, South America and Europe to the British Virgin Islands and provide an avenue for to Dominicans indulge in our shores.

The CEO of InterCaribbean, Mr. Trevor Sandler is ecstatic about the new route. “With the continued renewal of the British Virgin Islands product post the twin hurricanes, the ability to offer new services, new connecting points becomes very valuable. We have high hopes with BVI Tourism in promoting these flights, particularly in Europe and South America.”

Mr. Sandler said this connects us to bigger countries who share a love for the sailing industry. “We’ll particularly offer great connective options for those who interested in sailing and if we look to South America, the three largest countries that have air service to Punta Cana, being Brazil, Argentina and Chile…each of them have a coastline which has sailing as part of their DNA and it gives those folks an opportunity to sail in the Caribbean and enjoy warmer waters and a different scenery unique to the BVI.”

Chairperson of the BVI Tourist Board, Kenisha Sprauve spoke to the prospects of this new route. “It provides opportunities for persons flying between the British Virgin Islands and the United States of America. We are looking forward to the Tourism opportunities that this route may present”

Punta Cana is also scheduled to launch a pre-clearance facility that benefits persons travelling to the United States. “This will allow travelers who may continue onward to the US to actually pre-clear Customs and Immigrations in Punta Cana arriving in the US as a domestic customer on the flight” said the CEO.

Additionally, the 2019 Painkiller Cup will take place on Saturday, January 18th. The race, a 14-mile downwind run from Trellis Bay to White Bay, Jost Van Dyke, is open to any team comprising three racers, at least one of which must be female.

There’s also a solo race with three options for competitors; Team Relay Race, Solo Race & Mini-Painkiller Cup. The event is sponsored by InterCaribbean Airways.
