A local group led by President-elect Claudia Hodge is calling on the Premier to publish the names of the 1500 persons that have received status under the recently concluded “Fast-tracked Regularization Initiative”. This is the same group that opposed the initiative and launched a petition calling the move “illegal and “flawed,” and questioning the motive behind the process.
The group is now concerned that many of the recipients may not have met the criteria and is calling on the Premier to reflect on his actions and refrain from continuing to jeopardize their children’s future.
They are hereby requesting that the publication includes criteria to ensure a formal review that all recipients met the necessary requirements to ensure transparency in the system.
The group of Virgin Islanders who attended a second meeting with the Premier back in 2019, said he promised to organize another discussion prior to the granting of status. They said many attempts were made to meet but they efforts proved futile; the Premier would go on to finalize the program.
According to the letter sent out, Virgin Islands Voice is an organization set up to be a watch dog as it relates to issues affecting the Virgin Islands and Virgin islanders. They advocate for a sustainable Virgin Islands based upon common moral, spiritual and democratic values where Virgin Islanders can contribute to the growth and management of our Territory.
