Over 60 officers were successfully trained in the Next Generation 911 Software programme classes to efficiently dispatch emergency calls among agencies.
The training session allowed for officers from the Virgin Islands Fire and Rescue, the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force and Emergency Medical Technicians to learn the new system that will be attached to their emergency service vehicles. The system will also allow for upgraded computers that will improve communication between agencies and the 911 Call Centre which is stationed at the D. Orlando Smith Hospital Annex.
Minister for Health and Social Development, Honourable Carvin Malone reiterated the importance of enhancing health services when he addressed the officers and technicians stating that they will aid in improving the welfare of the people of the Territory.
The training is being held from February 3rd to 17th. The session is facilitated by MobileTec Incorporated, a proven leader in providing Public Safety Solutions for police departments, Sheriff’s offices, communications centres, fire departments and correctional facilities across the United States and Latin America.
