BVI RED CROSS ASKS PUBLIC TO “DONATE WITH DIGNITY”

The BVI Red Cross is asking the community to ‘donate with dignity’ when supporting the agency’s shop.

Director of BVI Red Cross Ms. Stacy Lloyd reminds the public that The Red Cross Shop does not only help raise funds towards the agency’s humanitarian work, but it also provides lower-priced, gently used items for members of the community.”

The Organization is asking persons to ‘donate with dignity’ to the shop to ensure the items received are in good condition for their customers

These are a few questions that can be asked to determine if clothing is suitable for donation:

  • Is the item gently used or terribly used?
  • Is the item more suitable for the dump?
  • If a friend of family member buys this, would they look put together?
  • Does the item being donated have any holes, stains, tears/rips, or mould?
  • Any items with holes, stains, tears or mould will not be accepted by the The Red Cross Shop.

Aside from clothing, the Red Cross Shop accepts household goods (cutlery, dishes, pots and pans), books, entertainment materials (DVDs, games, CDs), toys, exercise equipment, and linens, to name a few.

To donate, and for more information, visit the BVI Red Cross office near Treasure Isle or telephone 494-6349 or 344-5056, or email info@redcross.vg.
