A YEAR LONG POLICE WEEK AWARENESS

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force kicked off its year-long Police Week 2020 celebrations on Sunday, February 23rd, with a Church Service at Transformation Church International in East End.

Police Week this year will not be the customary week of activities but will feature a year-long list of events to commemorate 53 years of service within the Virgin Islands.

The next upcoming event is a Career Expo that is scheduled for March 27th between 10:00am and 2:00 pm at the Road Town Police Station. This event will give the attendees an inside look at the various units and their functions within the RVIPF. It will also enable members of the community who may be thinking about a career in policing to gain a unique insight into the roles and responsibilities of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force.

The Commissioner of Police, Michael Matthews states that “Our Police Week celebration is a key point in our calendar but this year we wanted to expand our ambitions in terms of connecting with our diverse communities. The events throughout the year are focused on reinforcing our community ties and reminding all of us of the critical importance of the partnership and relationship with the people we serve. I am particularly excited that our events include a Career Expo designed to encourage young local people to step up to the challenge of modern policing and play a part in the safety and security of the Territory. We have vacancies for Regular and Auxiliary officers this year and will continue with our strategy of expanding the force to ensure we can always deliver effective and efficient policing across the range of policing responses expected of us”

The remaining schedule of events will be circulated once finalized. The public is encouraged to look out for the schedule as their support is needed.
