Detectives from the Major Crime Investigations Team are seeking your assistance in identifying the perpetrator/s responsible for the murder of 30 years old Ashburn Dawson aka “Ashy” who was shot and killed around 10:17 pm, on the 10th of March 2017.
On Friday the 10th of March 2017 around 10:10 pm, the victim attended “Meals on Wheels” which is a mobile food van located on the Lower Estate Road close to the Main Street junction, to get a meal. Upon completion, he rode off on a red and black motor scooter in the direction of the Sunday Morning Well, when he came under a hail of gunfire by an unknown person, injuring him. He was transported to the Peebles Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
March 10th 2020 marks the 3rd anniversary of this currently undetected attack. Detectives of the said unit are still hopeful that members of the community may have crucial information, to assist in identifying those responsible for this senseless shooting, in an effort to bring some closure to the grieving family.

“Today is the 3rd anniversary of the horrific night when our beloved Ashburn was brutally snatched from our lives. He remains in our hearts and there is not a day that we are not in grief that he is no longer physically with us. The family continues to pray and we remain hopeful and encouraged, especially following recent arrests for unsolved murders in our Territory, that justice for our Ashy will come. On behalf of our family and all his friends who loved him, I wish to take this opportunity to urge persons to come forward and provide the investigators with any information, no matter how insignificant it may appear, to assist in the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for this senseless murder.”
