STUDENTS ENTER NEW REALITY OF DISTANCE LEARNING

The Government of the Virgin Islands hosted a live press conference to update the BVI public on its proactive efforts to mitigate the Coronavirus in the Territory.

During the press conference, Premier and Minister of Finance Honourable Andrew Fahie announced the following Cabinet decision made on March 17th.

Cabinet agreed that all private and public schools, pre-schools, day care centres and extra-curricular activities are mandated to close with effect from Thursday, 19th March, 2020 for 14 days, in the first instance.

The H. Lavity Stoutt Community College is also mandated by this decision. Students of institution was instructed to stay off campus. All Faculty have reported to work to finalize the preparation for full online delivery.

A number of courses have been suspended until further notice. These courses require face to face interaction & cannot be offered online.

  • Culinary Classes
  • Marine Professional Training
  • Computer Aided Drafting
  • Technical Drawing
  • Survey Level I
  • Orthographics
  • Computer Assisted Drafting
  • Advanced Computer Aided Design
  • Survey Level II
  • Engine Overhaul and Repairs
  • Automotive Transmission & Power Train Systems

HLSCC ensures potential graduates that they will graduate this year despite delays.
