The Minister of Health, Carvin Malone just announced that the BVI has confirmed another case of Coronavirus, bring the toll to three.
The patient in question is a 26-year old male who recently returned from a coronavirus-prone country.
According to the Minister, the patient has exhibited mild symptoms and is currently in self-quarantine. His primary and secondary contacts have been identified and up to press time remains asymptomatic. They have been placed on quarantine.
Hon. Carvin Malone said the third case was confirmed out of 25 tests sent for testing to CARPHA: the 9 initially sent plus an additional 16 cases under investigation. The Premier of the Virgin Islands further clarified “Of the 52 persons tested thus far the B.V.I. to date only have three (3) confirmed cases of Covid-19.”.
In light of the COVID-19 outbreak, the Government of the Virgin Islands has placed the territory under a mandatory lockdown. This curfew will be lifted on April 2nd, 2020 unless otherwise authorized by Government.
