Overnight 10 more persons were reported in violation of the 24-hour curfew that restricts movement of non-essential workers in the British Virgin Islands.
This was confirmed via a twitter post by Police Commissioner, Michael Matthews who said ” we now have 3 confirmed cases in the BVI all brought in from the outside not transferred internally. We need to keep it that way so the 10 persons found overnight by my officers in breach of curfew – not only will you be prosecuted but you put us all at risk! #selfishandignorant”
As such an appeal is made to all residents to remain indoors and in full compliance with the rules.
The round-the-clock curfew was announced on Wednesday by Premier Andrew Fahie. It began at 8pm that night, and is expected to be lifted at 6am on Thursday April 2nd, unless otherwise authorized by Government.
The curfew comes as government continues to increase its efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
