The Government of the Virgin Islands within an address to the nation, announced that beaches will be allowed to open from May 10th under the second phase of the internal reopening.
Residents across the territory will now be allowed to access beaches between the hours of 6am to 1pm daily for exercise and therapeutic purposes.
While this is welcomed news, Premier Fahie reiterated that persons must abide by the health protocols with special emphasis on social distancing. It not adhered to, the Government plans to reverse the decision to allow usage.
Governor Jaspert announced that the beaches are not open to social and mass gatherings and will be heavily monitored by the Royal Virgin Islands Force to further prevent the spread of COVID-19 and monitor the borders.
