The Minister of Health, Honorable Carvin Malone confirmed the territory’s 8th victim to test positive for the novel Coronavirus.
He said “since our last report and over the course of this week, 22 samples from the British Virgin Islands was sent to the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) for testing. Of the new samples, 21 were returned as negative and one sample was returned as positive for the virus that causes COVID-19,”
The Minister, via today’s press briefing also announced that the newest case which has been linked to the last identified, was placed under mandatory quarantine and has only exhibited mild symptoms.
He further highlighted that of the 157 persons tested, 8 were confirmed positive, 6 recovered and the territory recorded one death.
As a result the territory only has one active case of COVID-19 as numbers surpass 17,000 within the Caribbean region.
