NIGHT CURFEW TO BE EXTENDED FOR AN ADDITIONAL 14 DAYS; OTHER CABINET DECISIONS ANNOUNCED

In a live press conference, the Governor of the Virgin Islands, Augustus J.U. Jaspert announced Cabinet’s decision to continue the night time curfew.

Sunday May 24th 2020, a new curfew order will be implemented. Governor Jaspert said that it is Cabinet’s plans to maintain the night time curfew, which is enforced 7p.m. – 6a.m. daily, for an additional 14 days.

Premier of the Virgin Islands, Hon. Andrew Fahie confirmed this announcement in a subsequent press conference.

Premier Fahie listed a number of Cabinet decisions in regards to the new curfew order that come into effect May 24, 2020. 

Cabinet have amended the opening hours of all beaches from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for the purposes of exercise and therapy.

It was also decided that restaurants will be allowed to re-open for dining purposes in accordance with the social distancing guidelines.

It was considered and decided by Cabinet to increase the size of gatherings from 20 persons to one person per 64 sq. ft. up to a maximum of fifty (50) persons, as certified by the Social and Monitoring Task Force.
