5 SINGERS ADVANCE TO GEN Y FACTOR FINALS

Five contestants will continue to the Finals of the Gen Y Factor 2020 Competition – Glee Edition “Battle of the Schools”.

The finalists are:

Janique Gordon – H.Lavity Stoutt Community College

Toriah Pryce – Bregado Flax Educational Centre

Tiarra Ramsarran – St. Georges’s Secondary School

M’Kylah Pollock – Ciboney Centre of Excellence

Shakeba Pickering – Elmore Stoutt High School

The semi-finals premiered on Facebook Live on July 13 and is available to view as a two-part series on the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports’ page @DYASBVI.

Director of Youth Affairs and Sports, Mrs. Brenda Lettsome-Tye said the contestants did exceptionally well in the semi-finals and encouraged those that did not make the final cut  to continue improving their talent and pursuing their dreams.

Mrs. Lettsome-Tye said, “We are very pleased with the talent displayed by this year’s finalists and expect an exciting final competition. It will indeed be a Battle of the Schools!”

The finals are slated for Saturday, August 15 at the Eileene L Parsons Auditorium. Details for tickets and start time will be communicated at a later date.

Gen Y Factor is an annual singing competition which is held for youth between the ages of 15 to 29. The completion is now in its fourth year.

The Department of Youth Affairs and Sports created the Gen Y Factor Competition to give young people an opportunity to showcase their singing ability, develop their skills and encourage them in pursuing a career.
