The Ministry of National Security in St. Vincent and the Grenadines has confirmed (15) new cases of the coronavirus, one of which allegedly came from the British Virgin Islands.
This was confirmed by an official press release letter sent to our newsroom from St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The information was further verified local Health Minister, Honorable Carvin Malone a few minutes ago via a government press conference. Minister Malone said ” the Government of the Virgin Islands was officially informed on Saturday July 18th, that an airline passenger who travelled from the territory to St. Vincent and the Grenadines through St. Lucia on Wednesday, 15 July, was swabbed on arrival in St. Vincent and subsequently reported as positive for COVID-19″
The Minister further stated “to be clear, this individual was not tested in the BVI and not previously suspected or known to us as an active covid-19 case.”
Based on this information, the local health team has been employed to investigate, beginning with active contact tracing of the persons who may have interacted with the victim in question. According to the Minister, those persons will be tested and quarantined.
According to the official press release from St. Vincent dated today, July 19th, 2020 stated ” two (2) new COVID-19 cases, not associated with AA flights have also been detected during exit screening. These cases are under investigation. One new COVID-19 case arrived on another airline from the British Virgin Islands. All active cases are in isolation.”
ST. Vincent and the Grenadines currently has confirmed (15) active COVID-19 cases and (4) preliminary confirmed cases. Of the (44) cases confirmed, (19) are active, with (29) recoveries and (0) deaths.
