Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Irad Potter has confirmed that coronavirus testing in Jost Van Dyke is mandatory.
Dr. Potter said ” the testing is mandatory and should persons opt not to do it, then they must be quarantined for the full 14 days.”
Children are not exempted from this process. Dr. Potter said they will be tested “with the consent of the parent.”
Testing which began today, July 22nd at 10:00 am and will be conducted at two locations; Albert H. Chinnery Administration Building and the Jost Van Dyke Clinic.
According to the CMO “the process will be handled in coordination with the sister island coordinator and the District Officer. Transportation will provided to testing locations. They will be stationed until all samples are collected and verified.”
Over 300 hundred residents of Jost Van Dyke will be subjected to the Coronavirus test which is free of cost.
This follows the Ministry of National Security in St. Vincent and the Grenadines confirming that a case of coronavirus that was imported from the British Virgin Islands.
As a result, the island of Jost Van Dyke was placed on a 24-hour lockdown from yesterday, July 21st to Tuesday, July 28th, 2020.
