CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM LAURA PASSES BVI!

The British Virgin Islands is now beyond the worst of Tropical Storm Laura based on a statement sent out by His Excellency, Governor J.U. Jaspert.

The Governor’s release said “the centre of Tropical Storm Laura passed the Territory early this morning, and we can be grateful for the news that there are no reports of major damage.”

However, due to lingering weather conditions, persons are asked to remain vigilant and safe.

“Forecasters tell us that showers and gusty conditions may continue for some time today as Tropical Strom Laura moves away from our area, and the Territory remains under Tropical Storm Warning. A small craft warning also remains in place,” Governor Jaspert added.

Residents are duly advised to avoid the hiking as well as sea activities as rough conditions are expected to continue today.

Based on reports, the territory has not recorded any major damage, and while the roadways remain clear, persons are encouraged to approach with caution.

In closing Governor Jaspert said “as we continue in the peak of the hurricane season, I would urge everyone not to become complacent. Although we’ve now been spared serious impacts from multiple systems, we must continue to monitor conditions and stay vigilant.”

More updates to follow throughout the day.
