$100,000 CONTRACT SIGNED FOR THE CONTRUCTION OF JEFFREY CAINES SPORTS ARENA IN VG

GIS – The Government of the Virgin Islands has signed a contract for $100,000 with ACS Construction for work on Phase II of the Jeffrey Caines Sports Arena in Virgin Gorda.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture, Dr. the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley said that with support from the Recovery and Development Agency (RDA) the Government is making good progress on the reconstruction of the main building of the facility and the basketball court which was damaged during the hurricanes of 2017.

Honourable Wheatley said, “Your Government has committed additional resources to an additional phase two of works for this facility. We would also like to thank Unite BVI for their kind donation of $50,000 to supplement the Government’s funding to make the addition of the extra works under phase two possible.”

The contract includes the following scope of works:

1.         Construction of a perimeter chain link fencing. 

2.         Construction of concrete base for the placement of bleachers.

3.         The supply and installation of car park lighting.

4.         The renovation of the bathroom facilities to include a new roof, tiles, painting, external doors and frame, ceiling lights.

Additionally, No Limit Construction was earlier this month the successful contractor for the Supply of Sporting Equipment for the arena.

The contractor will be responsible for supplying a multi-purpose score board, backboard and ring; team benches, a scorer’s table, a complete outdoor volleyball system, aluminum bleachers, court lights, poles and recyclable garbage bins valued at $54,000.
