The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force Major Crime Team (MCT) continues to seek witnesses in their pursuit of those responsible for Deverson Williams death, exactly one week after he was brutally gunned down.
Williams, 38, native of St. Vincent, who resided in Long Trench, was pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining several gunshot wounds while in his vehicle in the Fish Bay area. The victim’s vehicle, nearby vehicles and the International Motors building also sustained damage.
Commissioner of Police Michael Matthews says that his detectives have interviewed several witnesses to this daylight shooting, but more witnesses are still needed.
“We are still seeking witnesses because the identity of the perpetrator or perpetrators are still unknown. Each eyewitness account helps us to put together the overall picture. In this case, no one single witness account will be enough.
“The incident took place in the streets, in a populated area, where many saw this dreadful event unfold. Drivers and shoppers in the vicinity are being invited to just give their account. We simply want as many accounts as possible. We have not or will never publicly identify persons who may have assisted the Force with confidential information. I must stress that all information received is treated in confidence, the Commissioner noted.
Police are presently working on several leads however, witnesses into last Tuesday’s murder or anyone with information are encouraged to contact the Major Crime Team directly at 368-5682 or Inspector Vernon Larocque at 368-9809.
Persons with information can share this with other trusted individuals such as their district representative, pastor or church leader or any persons who could pass it on their behalf if they do not wish to speak to the police directly.
