Works on the Zion Hill reservoir are set to commence in the coming days which will result in residents in the affected areas experiencing water interruptions.
This according to a media release from the Ministry of Transportation Works and Utilities, dated Friday June 25.
“The Water and Sewerage Department has made arrangements to tap into other water sources to meet the residents’ demands during the restoration stage,” the release stated.
It added, “Residents are notified that despite these efforts, there may be water interruptions experienced from Towers to Belmont during this period. Persons are asked to stay tuned to media outlets and social media, in particular the Government’s and RDA’s Facebook and Instagram pages and websites for any water disruption advisories.”
The works is a joint collaboration between the ministry and the Recovery and Development Agency (RDA) and is anticipated to start on June 28 with the dismantling of the existing structure. When complete, the new reservoir is expected to have a larger water storage capacity and will be more resilient to natural disasters.
The Zion Hill reservoir is the latest and final reservoir restoration project to be constructed as the Ministry of Transportation, Works and Utilities continue to improve the water distribution network in the territory.
