TWO FEMALE BVI ATHLETES TO COMPETE IN 12TH NACAC ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS OVER THE WEEKEND

Two female athletes will be representing the British Virgin Islands in the NACAC U18, U20 & U23 Athletics Championships in San Jose, Costa Rica this weekend.

This was confirmed in a media release by the BVI Athletics Association (BVIAA) on Wednesday July 7 which said the athletes competing will be Akrisa Eristee and Palesa Caesar who are accompanied by Coach Ericca Frederick.

Eristee will contest the Under 20, 400-meter race on Friday July 9 at 2:30pm with the finals set for Saturday July 10 at 5pm.  She will also compete in the 200-meter event on Saturday at 6:10pm with that final set for Sunday July 11 at 10:20am

Meanwhile, Caesar will contest the Under 18 discus and shotput events at 10:30am and then at 4:30pm on Saturday.

The release also said that some of the other selected athletes were unable to attend the Championships due to various reasons beyond the control of the Association.

President of the BVI Athletics Association Steve Augustine said he is expecting great results from the athletes and expects tough competition from the other contesting countries.
