TROPICAL STORM GRACE NOW FURTHER SOUTH OF THE BVI – TROPICAL FORCE WINDS LESS LIKELY – SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY IN EFFECT

Tropical Storm Grace is in the vicinity of the Virgin Islands but is further south than initially forecasted, therefore reducing the likelihood of the territory experiencing tropical force winds.

However, it stated that a small craft advisory is now in effect.

“Tropical Storm Grace is now in the vicinity of the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Grace remains a bit disorganized at this time however, minor stormy conditions are expected in the area today. As for the BVI, Antigua and Barbuda has discontinued the Tropical Storm Warning,” the DDM stated.

“The storm has moved further south and as a result of its compacted size, the tropical storm force winds from the center have significantly reduced chances of feeling impacts from sustained tropical force winds,” the DDM added.

In the meantime, the territory’s weather forecast for the day is expected to be overcast with showers and a high chance of thunderstorms.

Tonight, it is expected to be mostly cloudy with a 50 percent or a moderate chance of showers.

The winds will be coming from the southeast direction with speeds ranging from 26 to 42 kilometers per hour with gusts as high as 65 kilometers per hour. The sea swells are forecasted to be between 5 to 8 feet.
