The British Virgin Islands continues to see a decline in active positive COVID-19 cases with the total now down to 31.
This is according to an August 18 COVID-19 dashboard report which also confirmed a decline in hospitalisations with the total now at 4, of whom are all unvaccinated.
Of the 31 active cases, 18 are local cases, 7 contacts of cases, 2 from travel screening, 2 from entry screening day four and 2 from entry screening day seven.
In addition, the cases are now solely on Tortola and Virgin Gorda, with 24 on the mainland and 7 on the sister island.
The total cases recorded to date stands at 2,568 cases – which increased by 7 – while the total recoveries stand at 2500 persons – and increase by 18.
The territory has recorded a total of 37 COVID related deaths.
These results all stem from a total of 77,585 samples which were collected from 72,946 persons who were tested.
Meanwhile the BVI’s vaccination stats now read: 12,605 persons who are fully vaccinated and 16,826 fully and partially vaccinated persons.
