The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force gave deceased officer Sergeant Algon Smikle a honoured guard send off yesterday Saturday August 21st at the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport.
His funeral and internment will be held in his birthplace in Jamaica.
Commissioner of Police Mark Collins and the honour guard of RVIPF officers lined the security entrance to the Airport’s runway where his transshipment casket had to be carried by forklift as prescribed by airport security protocol. Officers of the Armed Response Unit where he last served and all branches of RVIPF were represented.
Sergeant Smikle served in the Force for the past 18 years. Prior to joining the RVIPF, he served an additional ten years in the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
