Many residents have been adhering to the new 1am curfew measure in the territory, with only two reported breaches since its implementation on September 19.
This is according to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force who made the disclosure in a media release dated September 28.
Acting Commissioner of Police Jacqueline Vanterpool noted her appreciation to the many who have adhered to the curfew regulations and worked with police in restricting movement during the government-issued order.
She said, “We want to appeal to drivers to exercise even more caution when using the roads in the hours just before the start of the nightly curfew and leave for your destination in enough time to accommodate any unforeseen roadway interruptions.”
The Acting Commissioner highlighted the importance of individuals allowing themselves sufficient time to get to their final destinations before the start of the nightly curfew at 1am. She said during previous curfew restrictions, persons have been found speeding to make it home before the prescribed hour.
“We want to appeal to drivers to exercise even more caution when using the roads in the hours just before the start of the nightly curfew and leave for your destination in enough time to accommodate any unforeseen roadway interruptions,” she stated.
