The newly crowned Miss British Virgin Islands Kathlyn Archibald-Drew has already commenced a steady pace of engagement within the Virgin Islands community after participating in a series of activities over the past two weeks.
In speaking on her experience as Miss BVI thus far, Kathlyn said, “I truly believe I have the best job in the world. This first week I was interviewed on JTV for The Big Story, gave Anti-Bullying presentations at 3 schools encouraging students to always be kind no matter what, and attended a brunch bringing awareness to Spina Bifida in the Virgin Islands. I am so excited to continue to serve and I can’t wait to see what’s next.”
Kathlyn has been an integral part of the Anti-Bullying Week activities hosted in the Territory from October 17 to 23. She made presentations to the students of the Althea Scatliffe Primary School, Ciboney School of Excellence on Virgin Gorda, and to the junior students of the Elmore Stoutt High School, accompanied by the 2021 Prince & Princess.
During her presentation to the students, Kathlyn discussed experiencing bullying from both perspectives of being the bully to that of being bullied.
In addition to the Anti-Bullying Week activities, Kathlyn made several media appearances on JTV’s Big Story, Tola Radio VI’s Morning Braff, Let’s Fuze VI’s The Morning Brew, and 284 Media to discuss how she intends to expound on her platform, Ambassadorship: Service at home, representation abroad.
As part of her weeks of activities and appearances, the Miss BVI Queen collected her phone and contract from CCT BVI, Life Unlimited, and had the opportunity for a photo-op with Virgin Islands Motors, owner Mr. Allan Parker, thanking him for the sponsorship of her Honda CRV.
The Queen was the focal point of the Queen’s Court parade that also featured the 2021 Miss British Virgin Islands and Prince and Princess participants on Saturday, October 23. She attended a brunch in support of Spina Bifida VI on October 24 and participated in a Royal Reading Tea Party themed luncheon at the Enid Scatliffe Pre-Primary School on October 29, as part of their activities in observation of Reading is Fun week.
Kathlyn will culminate her first two weeks as the newly crowned Miss British Virgin Islands at the Jaleel Cameron Foundation Flea Market fundraiser, on Saturday, October 30, whereby proceeds raised will be donated to needy families in the territory.
Miss British Virgin Islands is the longest-running pageant in the Virgin Islands. Kathlyn is the 66th young woman to hold the title of Miss BVI during the 67th year of the pageant’s existence.
