ROTARY CLUB SUNRISE DONATES WATER TANK TO THE FRANCIS LETTSOME PRIMARY SCHOOL THROUGH IT’S “THE POWER OF ONE’ INITIATIVE

Recently during the month of October Rotary International focused on Community and Economic Development. Of the millions of dollars raised internationally, Rotary Club Sunrise of Road Town choose to show their support locally through The Power of One Community initiative.

The Power of One Community Initiative was created to highlight the important work each of us can do as citizens to make our community a better place. By inspiring others, individually and collectively, Rotary Club Sunrise of Road Town showcased improvements, cleanup efforts, planting initiatives of various group projects and collaborations within the community and in the schools.  The aim of this, is to foster a sense of community spirit, BVI Pride and a message of hope and resilience. During the month of October Rotary Club Sunrise was involved in Reading is Fun week, planting initiatives and most recently a project geared at improving water sanitation and water preservation.

Under the Power of One Community, the Francis Lettsome Primary School were the recipient of a water tank. The grounds of Francis Lettsome Primary school continue to be very saturated after torrential rains as spouting and gutters need to be replaced and there is an overflow of water.

With the help of community businesses, a water tank was donated along with the construction of a concrete base to stabilize the tank once the water fills up.  The water tank provides a catchment for the future rains and a back-up water supply that is much needed at Francis Lettsome Primary School if the government water supply is suspended for general maintenance.

This initiative was possible through the collaboration of Rotary Club Sunrise of Road Town and various sponsors such as: Qwomar Limited, Frozen Imports and JBF Construction and Heavy Equipment.

As Rotarians serve to change lives, the Rotary Club Sunrise of Road Town is encouraging all to each help to improve our community, one person, one business, one group at a time. Together we can achieve great things for our community and this is The Power of One Community.

The Rotary Club Sunrise wishes to invite groups and businesses to partner with the club throughout the year on various community projects. They are asking the public to kindly share your stories and pictures by emailing at rotarysunriseclubbvi@gmail.com.
