The British Virgin Islands has recorded another COVID-19 related death as active positive cases continue to rise in the territory, surpassing the 100-mark for the first time since August this year.
This was confirmed in an epidemiological report published by the BVI Health Services Authority on Wednesday December 22, which said the active cases in the BVI now stand at 109.
Of that sum, 96 of the cases are on Tortola and 13 on the sister island of Virgin Gorda.
The analysis of the active cases further revealed that 45 cases are local, 30 contacts of case, 20 from travel screening, 8 on entry screening day zero and 6 on entry screening day seven.
The report also revealed that the territory’s total COVID-related deaths now stand at 39, with 8 hospitalisations.
To date, the BVI has recorded a total of 3,016 positive cases and 2,868 recoveries.
