Active COVID-19 cases in the British Virgin Islands have once again returned to unprecedented numbers with cases now nearing the 1000 mark.
This is according to the latest epidemiological report dated Thursday January 6, which revealed that the total active cases in the territory now stands at 958.
This latest update now means that the territory recorded some 357 new cases within a three-day period since the previous January 3 update reported some 601 active cases.
Of the 958 total, the location analysis revealed that 755 are on the island of Tortola, 175 on Virgin Gorda, 20 on Anegada and 8 on Jost Van Dyke.
A further breakdown of the statistics states that 483 are Local Cases, 377 Contacts of Local Cases, 64 recorded on Entry Screening Day Zero, 5 on Entry Screening Day Seven and 29 on Travel Screening.
The data also revealed that 12 persons are presently hospitalized and to date the total deaths remain at 40.
