16 local football players have been selected for a BVI national football training camp in the United Kingdom which commences this week.
They are: Goalkeepers – Philip Jules and Will Butler; Defenders – Christian Xavier, Jerry Wiltshire, Vidal Hendrikson, Miguel Marshall, Ikyjah Williams and Malakai Stanners; Midfielders – Carlos Septus, Luka Chalwell, Jaimie Wilson and T’Sharne Gallimore; and Forwards – Josh Bertie, Tyler Forbes, Jake Forbes and Kevin Fisher.
The 16 players will be under the watchful eyes of national Head Coach Chris Kiwomya at Bisham Abbey in England.
Speaking on the weeklong initiative, President of the BVI Football Association Mr. Andy Bickerton said it will greatly assist with the development of the participating players.
He said, “The Camp is another step in the development of the Men’s National Team as we work towards the CONCACAF Nations League which commences in June.”
“It provides another opportunity for our young players to learn from our National Coach, Chris Kiwomya, and understand the patterns of play he is introducing plus his personal expectations of them,” he added.
In addition to the weeklong camp, the BVI national team will be playing a friendly game against Anguilla also in the UK on Thursday January 27.
