RESIDENTS WARNED OF A.O SHIRLEY PREDATOR; RVIPF ADVISES RESIDENTS TO REPORT ANY INCIDENTS OF ASSAULT

Within the past weeks several reports have been made via social media platforms in the Virgin Islands of a predator attacking women at the A.O Shirley Recreational Grounds in the early mornings.

One post warning residents stated, “Ladies (and everyone really), please beware of a man attacking women on the A. O. Shirley Grounds in the early mornings. Two women have already been attacked. Be vigilant of your surroundings when walking/exercising in the mornings.”

Our newsroom reached out to the RVIPF on the matter and in an invited comment the agency said, “The RVIPF received a report from a female in late December of an assault by a male while she was on the A.O. Shirley Grounds. No injuries were reported and investigations are continuing in that matter. No other reports were made to police of similar assaults. However, persons are being urged to report any similar incidents of assault to Police immediately.”

Anyone with information or needing to report an assault are asked to call 311 or contact the Major Incident Team at 368-5682 or the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-9339.
