Fifteen-year old, now Grade 12 student, Gift Ogbonnaya of Ciboney Centre for Excellence located in Virgin Gorda was elated to hear the news that she ranked 3rd in the Caribbean for her performance on the 2021 CSEC Examinations for the subject of Electronic Document Preparation and Management (EDPM).
Gift completed six (6) CSEC examinations for EDPM, English A, Information Technology, Mathematics, Principles of Business, and Social Studies, and achieved Grade Is in all subjects with Distinctions (All As) in four. She was also awarded a Certificate in Business Studies.
Gift’s regional achievement was the only one noted for a student of the British Virgin Islands for the 2021 Examinations. Additionally, this is the first time in the last five years that the British Virgin Islands has had a student rank in the top 5 for any subject.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries, and Agriculture, Dr. the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley, shared his wishes and congratulations, “On behalf of the Ministry responsible for Education, I take this opportunity to congratulate Gift Ogbonnaya for achieving the 3rd highest score in the region for the Electronic Document Preparation and Management in the 2021 CSEC exams. This is indeed a fantastic achievement for Gift, her family, Ciboney, Virgin Gorda, and the entire Virgin Islands. I hope and pray that Gift will inspire others through her pursuit of excellence.”
The Principals and Staff of Ciboney extends heartfelt congratulations to Gift and all of their Grade 11 and 12 students who performed exceptionally well on the 2021 CSEC examinations. Overall, the nine candidates achieved 17 Grade Is, 15 Grade IIs, 16 Grade IIIs, and 1 Grade IV. This was the first year that Ciboney Centre for Excellence has completed CSEC examinations.
