The Minister for Health Honourable Carvin Malone has expressed concern following the latest statistics on COVID-boosters administered in the territory, which he said shows a marginal 12.2 percent.
The minister made the disclosure during yesterday’s press conference where he revealed that only 3,652 persons have received boosters from the 17,459 totally vaccinated persons in the territory.
Minister Malone also encouraged parents to have their children vaccinated since the territory only has a limited stock of 500 doses of the pediatric vaccine which is approved for children ages 5 to 11.
The current batch of that vaccine expires at the end of March.
In the meantime, the health minister said that the government will be putting measures in place to accommodate the administering of the vaccines to schools, groups and persons on the sister island.
He said this would involve health personnel coming to the locations of those persons seeking to be inoculated.
Minister Malone said the BVI is still not out of the woods, but he said with the progress made to date, the territory is close to the edge.
